Obituaries are articles published in newspapers announcing the death of an individual. The practice of publishing the names of recently deceased people with short biographical information became popular in the early part of the 19th Century. Halifax, Nova Scotia was well served by newspapers throughout the 19th Century and into the early part of the 20th Century and as such the names of individuals who died in and around the city appeared in the local newspapers.
Halifax Chronicle Herald/Mail-Star, 1901-1949
