Baptism and Marriage Indexes
The baptism, marriage and burial records for the Catholic parish of Our Lady of Mount Carmel start in September 1823.
The first few volumes are dominated by entries for individuals living outside of what would be considered the modern boundaries of the parish. Communities that are included are:
Annapolis County: Annapolis, Granville, Dalhousie Settlement.
Halifax County: Upper Prospect, Lower Prospect, Ketch Harbour, Herring Cove, Portuguese Cove, Bear Cove, Halibut Bay, Sambro, Duncan’t Cove, Ferguson’s Cove, Spryfield, St. Margaret’s Bay, Blind Bay, Shad Bay, White’s Lake, and Dover (East and West).
Hants County: Shubenacadie, Nine Mile River, Rawdon, Douglas, Windsor.
Kings County: Cornwallis, Horton.
Lunenburg County: Gold River, Pleasant River, LaHave, Petite Riviere, Chester and Lunenburg, Sherbrooke (modern day New Ross).
Queens County: Liverpool, Caledonia, Port Medway.
