The Shore Photo Album

These photographs were taken on a dull, foggy day in May 2006 . As I progressed along the shoreline the sun eventually broke through, but only briefly. The seas were quite rough that day as seen in several of the photos. For a short description of each photo simply hover your mouse over an image.

Wagner's Beach

These first six photographs focus on Wagner's beach. The beach tends to accumulate a lot of driftwood and other weird items. It is also a popular spot for bonfires. The trademark of the beach, though, is the chattering of the rocks as the waves recede into the ocean.

Path to the High Head

This next set of photographs were taken along the path from Wagner's beach to the High Head. The most notable image is that of the "Fantome Rock", which commemorates those who died in the sinking of the HMS Fantome on 24 November 1814 .

High Head

This last set of photographs were taken at the High Head. By this point the fog had lifted enough for Betty Island, Hopson Island, and Norris Rock to poke through. The seas were very tumultuous as seen in most of these photographs. Even though the photos capture the ferocity of the waves, it is much more impressive to view them in person.
